Eastern Boxelder Bug 

Appearance: Adult: 12–14 mm long, black with orange or red markings on the thorax and wing edges. Nymphs are bright red with black legs.

Habitat: Often found on or near boxelder, maple, and ash trees. Gathers on sunlit walls, tree trunks, and buildings, especially in fall.

Behaviour: Overwinters in homes and structures. Does not reproduce indoors.

Risk to Humans: Harmless but considered a nuisance pest. Can stain surfaces and emit a foul odor if crushed.

Interesting Fact: Despite their name, they do not damage boxelder trees and feed mainly on seeds and leaves.
